In extreme weather (hot or cold), there are times when we do not want the vehicle to shut off as part of the Idle Shutdown Timer settings. Can this be done?
Yes. All of our vehicles have Cold and Hot Ambient Air Temperature setting options.
If the vehicle reads an ambient temperature outside of those ranges, it will disengage the Idle Shutdown Timer. That is why it’s important to coach your drivers on controlling their idle and using the key to shut off their vehicle instead of letting the Idle Shutdown Timer do so. If the truck is outside of the specified ranges, failure to shut the vehicle off at the key can result in excessive, unwanted idle time.
