How is Idle Time Measured?
How is idle time measured?
The complicated explanation is best broken down into three parts.
- The engine is on.
- No speed is detected.
- RPM is normal idle range (generally defined as under 750). So yes, when the vehicle is stopped at a stoplight, it is measuring idle time, but rest assured that there are many areas of improvement that can be focused on before getting to the level of management and awareness of the traffic patterns.
